Lightweight Vintage Horsehide Single Riders Jacket (PR-65) -

Y'2 have updated their Single Rider Jacket pattern, now using the XR-65 designation (previous models were called XR-42), streamlining the details and highlighting their expert cutting and panel selection. Featuring a slightly-less-snug and more comfortable fit through the body, the back has been significantly pared down, losing the buckle adjusters for a cleanly-paneled back that really lets the leather do the talking. The button cuffs have been swapped for more contemporary zippers, and the chest pocket has been angled down slightly, but you'll still find two welted hand pockets at the sides and a single interior pocket behind the placket to keep all your objects in. The inside body is lined with an 80% cotton / 20% linen blend fabric, while the sleeves use a soft and sleek 100% nylon twill to keep your arms from getting stuck while layering. It's made from a lightweight version of Y'2's "Vintage Horse" Japanese horsehide, averaging between just 1mm - 1.2mm in thickness on average. This is a specialized tea-core leather, with a base brown dye applied to the hides during the initial tanning and the black coat only being applied to the surface during finishing. Consequently, as the jacket ages, the brown core will slowly peek through the black surface of the leather — scuffs and scratches will also highlight the brown sublayer. The leather is also finished with a high gloss that will wear down over time in tandem with the dye, giving the jacket an incredibly dynamic patina. It
