RJ-3 Jacket - 11oz 1900s Denim

From Standard & Strange

Agent-ready

The RJ-3 is Freenote's take on a 1950s style Type II jacket, complete with a buckle back and twin chest pockets. The fit is relaxed, with a square body that cuts a clean silhouette with a high-rise trouser and layers easily over even heavyweight shirts and knitwear. The sleeves are equally full, with slightly dropped shoulders for a more vintage shape. This batch is made from a custom 11oz Japanese denim, designed to reproduce a sample fabric from the early 1900s. Woven on a vintage shuttle loom, it has a tightly-woven face, with small neps and irregularities, as well as a very subtly hairy texture. The denim is sanforized (a treatment to prevent fabrics from shrinking excessively when washed), but is otherwise unwashed, and has a fairly rigid feel despite only being 11oz. Over time, and especially after the first few washes, the fabric will soften considerably, additionally developing slow, low-contrast fades like the original fabric. It's got some great finishing details — from Freenote's usual 1/8" double needle stitching details, a custom woven label, and reinforcements across the front pockets. The double pleated front features copper concho rivets that pair beautifully with the custom Freenote metal buttons. Fits true to size. Wash cold and hang dry. 100% cotton 11oz indigo selvedge denim from Japan Custom metal buttons Concho rivet details 1/8" double needle stitching Twin chest pockets Double pleated front Internal selvedge detail Pleated back with buckle back Vintage
