The line showcases small ateliers, primarily throughout France, but additionally around a few other parts of Europe — each one specializing in the product they craft. The line is nostalgic, reverential towards well made and well-worn menswear classics, and leaning into a more casual aesthetic for their beautifully-tailored designs. De Bonne Facture take sustainability extremely seriously, with a design philosophy that relies on five pillars — "garment durability, atelier traceability, fabric provenance, the ecological impact of our supply chain, and the preservation of industrial know-hows". Their garments are built to last, using high end materials that will improve with time as they wear in, developing unique character with time. The Artist Shirt is a really elegant lightweight button-up shirt with a French collar and two button-flap chest pockets. It's got a very comfortably-relaxed fit that wears well both tucked and untucked, featuring a curved shirttail hem and extra strong felled seams for longevity. Somewhere between a dress shirt and a work shirt, the style was inspired by a Marcel Lassance piece from the 80s, which DBF find evocative of artist shirts from the Modernist era.
