Longwing Tobacco Waxed Commander
From Grant Stone
C.F. Stead's Waxy Commander has a generous amount of wax creating a distressed appearance as the lighter base will begin to show with wear. It is a resilient article that only improves with age. Grant Stone Longwing in C.F. Stead Waxy Commander, tobacco brown. A classic American longwing brogue with a full wingtip extending around the heel and deep brogue perforation and pinking running the seams. The Waxy Commander leather is heavily wax-impregnated, so the surface starts a dark even tobacco and burnishes to lighter highlights across the toe, heel and flex points with wear, building real patina rather than synthetic distressing. Built on the Leo last with blind eyelets and tonal leather wrap-laces for a cleaner silhouette than typical brogue eyelet hardware. Goodyear-welted with a 360 degree split-reverse welt, vegetable-tanned leather insole, welt and midsole, cork filler and a steel shank. The double-bend leather outsole gives it a flatter, more sober base than the brick-red rubber Edwards. Factory-made on Xiamen Island, China. Pairs as well with grey flannel and worsted wool tailoring as it does with raw indigo denim.
