The Longline Button-Up: Watchers draws inspiration from the recurring theme of the watchful eye in the work of Carlos Luna. The eyes in this design reflect both the watchful eye of government and the Yoruba deity Eleggua, who observes and reports human folly and accomplishment throughout our journey between worlds. Luna emphasizes that nature itself serves as a watcher—a universal government that holds us accountable for our actions. The symbols from nature emblazoned on each arm are a reminder that everything we create for necessity, comfort, and convenience is born from nature, and we are accountable for its preservation. This shirt is a tribute to that connection and the responsibility we bear.
